DCDC Website

A redesign of DCDC's site

DCDC is a group of instructional designers, visual designers, and web developers that specializes in educational web solutions: distance courses, learning modules, interactive games and activities, consultation and audits of existing sites, training videos, and public sites for entities within the University of Hawai‘i.

DCDC wanted the new site to show that online education can be enjoyable and effective.

Each page layout has been carefully considered with the content in mind. On the “Our Work” page, projects can be filtered by type, represented through color. Yellow stars indicate award-winners. Individual project pages reveal concise descriptions, an image slideshow or video, the instructional strategies used (learn more by hovering over the term), team credits (more accountability for participants), and press releases and awards (if any).

The services pages highlight sample projects, which a content editor can select from the back-end. The editors have the option to display these by type (e.g., course, program, interactive) or strategy (e.g., learning analytics, open educational resources), or they can manually select key projects.

Because there is a lot of confusion about what DCDC is/does, we illustrated our process through a video that plays in the background on the homepage. I created simple storyboards then had our videographer bring this vision to life. The video stars DCDC team members (our developers, instructional designers, visual designers), a subject matter expert/instructor we’ve worked with, and actual student learners.
